The trio beat China by one point to clinch India’s fourth gold medal in shooting at these Games, taking the shooting contingent’s tally to 15 medals (four gold, four silver and five bronze), going past the previous best of 14 medals (three gold, five silver and six bronze) won at Doha 2006.

In a low scoring final, the Indians posted a combined qualification score of 1734 (Sarabjot 580, Cheema 578, Narwal 576) to beat the Chinese (1733) to the gold medal by a point while Vietnam (1730) took the bronze.
Though this event is not a part of the Olympic disciplines, the fact that it contributes to the Indian contingent’s gold medal haul is what makes it special. And with three days of the shooting competition still remaining, India’s medal tally can only swell further.
