Don Bosco Int'l School clinches 6 gold medals in MSSA inter-school handball tournament

Matunga International school triumph in four of the six MSSA handball categories at Azad Maidan; pocket silver and bronze in remaining two sections

Don Bosco International (DBI) School (Matunga) had a rewarding Sunday, winning four of the six gold medals on offer in the MSSA inter-school handball tournament 2022-23, at the Schools Sports Centre, Azad Maidan. The school also won a silver and bronze.
The Matunga school children clinched both the boys’ and girls’ under-12 titles, and went on to win the girls’ under-10 crown and boys’ under-8 title.


In the under-12 finals, the DBI boys combined perfectly and defeated Yashodham HS (Goregaon) 9-2. Vihaan Maru, Megh Mehta and Vidhaan Sanghavi contributed three goals each to secure DBI’s victory.

Khiah Jain scores brace

The DBI girls brushed aside a challenge from Jamnabai Narsee School (Juhu) girls recording a 5-3 win. Leading DBI’s charge was Khiah Jain with two goals while Amaira D’Silva, Khushi Shah and  Tanishka Jawkar chipped in with one apiece to complete the winning tally. Jamnabai scored through a brace from Tiaraa Rita and one from Stuti Shah.

Adrusta all the way

In the girls’ U-10 final, DBI overcame Sanjeevani World School (Dahisar) 2-0 with Adrusta Rastogi striking both the goals. In the boys’ under-8 final, Vansh Mankad scored all three goals while leading DBI to a narrow 3-2 win against Sanjeevani World School. Ram Thakur scored both goals for the losing team.

Meanwhile, Aanya Prasad earned herself an advance birthday present as she inspired Jamnabai Narsee School (Juhu) to a 2-1 win against Sanjeevani World School to win the girls’ under-8 crown. Aanya who turns eight next Sunday scored both the goals to seal the win. GD Somani School (Cuffe Parade) claimed the boys’ under-10 title, defeating DBI 2-1. Dhyanam Jain and Kyraan Shah scored for the Cuffe Parade boys.
