Bombay Scottish (Mahim) beat St Anne's (Fort) 3-1 to win the District Sports Office (DSO) U-17 girls' inter-school football title at Worli Sports Club yesterday.
Going into the match, St Anne's were in rampant form after they won their semi-final 10-0 against Shri Mammabai (Chinchpokli), while Bombay Scottish could only manage to scrape through via tie-breakers.
However, it was Bombay Scottish who proved to be the better team on the day. They managed to restrict their opponents, keeping them in their own half whilst enjoying most of the possession.
Bombay Scottish made their possession count in the 10th minute when striker Sarah Arora poked a high ball past St Anne's 'keeper Nisha Bhasutkar to break the deadlock. They doubled their lead in the 19th minute through Deniese Pereira's fantastic strike from outside the box.
St Anne's pulled one back immediately through Renee Talati in the 20th minute. Sarah squashed St Anne's hopes of a comeback with a fine strike in the 36th minute.
