Socialite, columnist and author Shobhaa De is stoking one controversy after another for her tweets on the performance of Indian athletes at 2016 Rio Olympic.

After mocking the performance of the Indian athletes at the Olympics, she landed in fresh trouble for her tweet about shuttler PV Sindhu after she had stormed into the badminton final.

"PV SINDHU Silver Princess ?," De wrote on Thursday and soon tried to salvage the situation with two new tweets. "Silver minted by Sindhu. Chandi ke baad Sona!!!" and the other "Go for gold, girl!!!"

She was slammed for belittling Sindhu's achievement and betraying a defeatist mentality about the shuttler's chances.

She had this to say even before the semi-final was over. Which suggests that she felt that Sindhu's winning way would come to an end in the final.

Here's how Shobhaa De reacted to PV Sindhu's Olympic win on Twitter:

She tried to remedy her gaffe. But it was too late...
