Satara's Siddhi Jadhav was the cynosure of all eyes as she set herself for a triple treat, having made the girls' under-19, under-17 singles and under-17 doubles final in the DY Patil-Maharashtra State Open badminton tournament yesterday.
Siddhi, on her way to the girls' under-19 singles final, shocked second seed Pooja Devlekar of Mumbai Suburbs 24-22, 21-16 to make the title round. Even in the under-17 section, Siddhi was aggressive while beating second seed Pooja Kachre 24-22, 21-16.
However, Pooja, with Mehika Ambekar as a partner entered her age group doubles final.
Mumbai Suburbs' Deep Rambhia was much faster and quicker on his feet as he made short work of his doubles partner Akshan Shetty 21-8. Deep and Akshan also are in the boys' under-19 doubles. Another Mumbai suburban boy Tanishq Saxena, the top seed in the boys' under-15, is also in line for a triple treat.
Apart from the under-15 singles, Tanishq is also in the boys' under-17 singles final. He and Sushant Ravva will figure in the boys' under-17 doubles too.
