Rio de Janeiro: Ace United States swimmer Michael Phelps bagged two more Olympic golds, thus taking his total career medals tally to 26 - which is exactly what India as a country has achieved since their participation in the Games in 1900.

Michael Phelps clinched the first gold of the day in the 200-metre butterfly category, his favourite event, and then led his team to victory in the 4x200 freestyle relay.
In the 200-metre butterfly event he clocked 1:53.36, while in the relay, the United States team finished at 7:00.66.
The 31-year-old US athlete has now racked up 26 Olympic medals in total - 22 gold and two each of silver and bronze.
In contrast, Indian contingent's tally from the 33 Olympic Games it has participated in is: 9 golds, 6 silvers and 11 bronze medals.
