MiD DAY tasted stupendous success when it held its first ever Corporate Cricket League last year. This year, MiD DAY backed it with another tournament - Avighna India MiD DAY Corporate Cricket League that reaped rich rewards and surpassed all expectations.

Gracing the occasion were Manajit Ghoshal, Managing Director and CEO of MiD DAY Infomedia, Ibrahim Khatri, Assistant Vice President ufffd Sales, and Kailash Agarwal, Chairman of Avighna India Ltd. Actor Tusshar Kapoor was the chief guest.



Inaugural winners Future Group comfortably defeated Larsen & Toubro Infotech by 42 runs to retain their crown. The team won R1 lakh in prize money, while their opener Deepak Bhogle was declared 'Player of the Tournament'.

Saeed Shaikh (26) and Bhogle (30 not out) Future Group off to a flying start. The defending champions eventually posted 120 on board.

Needing to score at 12 runs an over, L & T Infotech struggled to find the fence frequently enough. Nilesh was the only batsman successful in using the long handle but he too perished for 30 and his team finished with 78 for four at the end of 10 overs.

Earlier, in the semi-finals, both L & T Infotech and Future Group breezed past Dainik Bhaskar and Intelenet, respectively.

In the first semi-final, Dainik Bhaskar opted to field against L&T Infotech and were left to rue their decision as they lost the game by 19 runs.

L & T Infotech posted 91 for three as Nilesh (31) and Vinit (30) shared a match-winning stand of 78 runs for the second wicket.

In reply, Sailesh Parab top scored with 24 for Dainik Bhaskar who finished with 64 for nine. Vinay (3-12) was adjudged the best bowler of the match.

In the second semi-final, Future Group chose to bat andu00a0 they beat Intelenet by 20 runs. Chasing 98 for victory, Intelenet ended up with 77 for eight in 10 overs.
