MSSA Basketball: Vibgyor hoopsters on a High

In the boys' semi-final match, the Vibgyor High lads dominated St Joseph's (Wadala), winning 18-8 after leading 8-4 at the break, to enter their maiden final.

Vibgyor High (Malad) are on a high as they are set to clinch double crowns, having reached both, the boys and girls U-11 finals, in the MSSA inter-school basketball tournament at Azad Maidan on Wednesday.


In the boys' semi-final match, the Vibgyor High lads dominated St Joseph's (Wadala), winning 18-8 after leading 8-4 at the break, to enter their maiden final. The highlight of Vibgyor's success was the brilliance of Vidit Damani, who top-scored with 12 points.


Aditya Keshwani contributed with two baskets, scoring the team's first and last baskets. Vidit shot three successive baskets in the first quarter as Vibgyor raced to an 8-4 lead.


In the second, both teams drew a blank before Vidit managed one more basket in the third as Vibgyor increased their lead to 12-4. He signed off with two more baskets as Vibgyor closed out the match. For St Joseph's, Somendra scored four points.

Vibgyor play Bosco in final

The Vibgyor boys will play Don Bosco 'A' (Matunga) in the final. The Matunga lads beat Vibgyor High ICSE (Goregaon) 20-6 in the second semi-final. Aradhya More top-scored for Don Bosco with six points while Shan Shinde and Angad Saab Oberoi added four points each. Kushagra Khare scored four points for Vibgyor.

Sia, Kyra score four points

Earlier, the Vibgyor High girls were on a roll, beating Don Bosco International (Matunga) 12-2 in a lop-sided semi-final. Sia Bhalerao and Kyra Rungta both scored four points each for Vibgyor.

In Thursday's final, the Vibgyor girls will take on Rajhans Vidyalaya (Andheri), who beat Vibgyor High ICSE (Goregaon) 9-1 in the other semi-final. Samantha Fernandes was the star player for Rajhans, scoring five points.
