Chandigarh: Haryana Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Anil Vij today said that the new sports policy, which is slated to be announced on the occasion of Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda on January 12, will have a special scheme for encouraging women players.

While giving this information, Vij said that the previous Congress government had no sports policy rather the government had only marked their stamp on the medals won by players through their sheer hard work and labour.

He said that our government would formulate such a policy which would not only inspire children to join sports but would also train them accordingly so as to increase the tally of medals won by state players. The Sports Minister said that new sports policy would focus on encouraging the budding sports talent. Under the policy, special attention would be paid on new methods to train players, appropriate diet and other relative needs.

Besides, the consideration of every city, village, town and community would be kept in view in the new sports policy which was missing in the present sports policy. He said that it was not justified to have golf club at Rai Sports School, Sonepat as students studying there do not play golf.

He said that in future only such players would be given stipend who would participate in games. This has been observed that the players lose interest in sports after getting government job, which results in depriving the future generation of information on game rules and modes, he added.
