Benjani Mwaruwari struck for the first time in more than a year to maintain new Manchester City manager's Roberto Mancini's 100 percent record with a 1-0 FA Cup win at Middlesbrough.

The Zimbabwe international made the most of a rare start with his first goal of the season to seal City's progress to the fourth round at the expense of their second-tier Championship hosts, who have not prospered since Gordon Strachan replaced Gareth Southgateu00a0-- this was their seventh defeat in his 13 matches in charge.

Benjani, whose last goal came in a 1-1 Premier League draw against Fulham in December 2008, pounced from the edge of the area in first-half stoppage-time after a powerful run from his own half by Martin Petrov to give Italian boss Mancini a reminder of his abilities.

FA Cup results: Aston Villa 3 Blackburn 1; Blackpool 1, Ipswich 2; Bolton 4, Lincoln 0; Everton 3, Carlisle 1; Fulham 1, Swindon 0; Huddersfield 0, West Bromwich 2; Leicester 2, Swansea 1; Middlesbrough 0, Manchester City 1; Millwall 1 Derby 1; Milton Keynes Dons 1, Burnley 2; Nottingham Forest 0, Birmingham 0; Plymouth 0, Newcastle 0; Portsmouth 1, Coventry 1; Preston 7, Colchester 0; Stoke 3, York 1; Tottenham 4, Peterborough 0; Wigan 4, Hull 1.
