Patel, who crossed the chequered flag amidst loud cheers from the stands overtook a troubled Aston Hare two laps from the end and maintained the lead till the end. “While I was leading the race, I said to myself that I shouldn’t make any mistakes. Even in the last lap, I gave it 100 per cent,” said Patel.
South Africa’s 16-year old Hare meanwhile clinched the championship winning three of the four races, ahead of front-running Nabil Jeffri and title contender Afiq Ikhwan (Meritus), both of whom retired after a collision in the eighth lap.
