If you are one of those who believe that David Beckham's stunning goal from his own half against Wimbledon in 1996 was the best strike you have ever seen, maybe Rooney will change your mind with one of the best strikes in recent Football history. The 32-year-old footballer sent Twitter into meltdown when he completed a hat-trick by scoring a goal from inside his own half against West Ham. With West Ham keeper Joe Hart off his line, Rooney unleashed a superb shot from the half-way line that arrowed into the unguarded goal to spark wild celebrations among the home supporters. The strike revived memories of David Beckham's famous long-range strike for Manchester United at Wimbledon back in 1996.

Some on Twitter compared the goal to David Beckham's famous goal and many even went as far to suggest it is better. A user wrote, 'OH. MY. GOODNESS. Rooney from the halfway line to score his first EVER #EFC hat-trick.' 'Phenomenal strike by Rooney. I'd go as far as saying better than Beckham's v Wimbledon,' wrote another user. This is not the first time Rooney has rocked the Hammers with a goal from range. He scored from the half-way line during United's 2-0 victory at Upton Park in 2014. It should be noted that Everton went on to win the game 4-0 when Ashley Williams added another in the 78th minute.
