Colombian singer, songwriter and record producer Shakira (40) says her family is more important to her than her career.
The Hips Don't Lie singer, who has sons Milan (four) and Sasha (two) with Barcelona footballer Gerard Pique (30), has spoken of how her career has taken a backseat lately. "For years, I spent my life pressing pause on those things that are now my priority, like having a family. I pressed pause on that. Now, I hit play," Shakira was quoted as sying by The Straits Times.
"I formed a family and it's the most wonderful thing, the most important thing to me. Before, I used to be the centre of my whole world and the beginning and the end, the alpha and omega of my whole world, and now my kids and my family are that one priority."

However, the Grammy winner added that she wanted to cater to her own desires as a music artist. "I also wanted to attend to my own needs as a creator, as an artist, as a producer," she said.
