Minerva Public School (Chandigarh) and senior boys and Umthli Secondary School girls (Shillong) won the senior boys and girls titles respectively at the Reliance Foundation Youth Sports National Football Championship without losing a single match in the tournament. In the finals played at the Reliance Corporate Park, Ghansoli on Saturday, Minerva beat Rosary Higher Secondary School (Goa) and Umthli upstaged PS Senior Secondary School (Chennai) by identical 4-0 margins.
Makan Chothe scored a brace for Minerva while Konan Kouame and Rebanta Metei scored a goal each. In the school girls' final, Nisilia Majaw scored twice for Umthli while Wandashisha Mawrien and Aidaris Kharmalki completed the tally with on goal each. The winning teams were awarded prize money of R3 lakh, while the while the runners-up were richer by Rs.1 lakh.
