Gerrard will join MLS outfit LA Galaxy and any hopes the midfielder had of finishing with a victory in his 710th match were ended by a dominant first-half display by Stoke.
The Potters carved open the Liverpool defence at will to score five goals in 23 minutes with Mame Diouf scoring a brace while Jonathan Walters, Charlie Adam and Steven Nzonzi netting one goal apiece. Peter Crouch rounded off the scoring for Stoke.
Drogba's grand send-off
Elsewhere in London, Didier Drogba drew a line under his second spell at Chelsea as Jose Mourinho's side wrapped up their EPL title-winning campaign with a 3-1 victory over Sunderland at Stamford Bridge.

Diego Costa scored his 20th league goal of the season, a 36th minute penalty to cancel out Steven Fletcher's opening goal before Loic Remy completed the win with two second half goals.
Drogba, meanwhile, was carried from the field by his teammates when he was replaced after a 28-minute appearance that had all the signs of a final farewell.
