The former Cricket Operations manager of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Suru Nayak, has begun a new innings with the ISL — that of managing FC Pune City.

It may be recalled that the former India Test cricketer was forced to quit cricket administration in July earlier this year after BCCI did not renew his contract.

Nayak had posted on his Facebook page: "Retired from BCCI and its politics!" at the time. Only time will tell whether football be Nayak's better match.

House not quite full
Before Saturday's game at the DY Patil stadium, there were reports that all the 30,000 tickets on offer at the Navi Mumbai venue were sold out.

However, there were many seats that were unoccupied, with officials stating that approximately 28,000 seats had been filled.

One wonders whether Mumbai's lacklustre showing against Atletico de Kolkata was responsible for the empty seats.

If it was, the hosts' spectacular performance on Saturday should ensure no seat goes empty when they take on NorthEast United FC next Friday.
