Rajasthan Royals’s opener Yashasvi Jaiswal (RR) emerged as the leader of the pack of 12 members of the current Ranji Trophy-winning Mumbai team, who displayed their skills at the recently concluded Indian Premier League. Jaiswal scored a whopping 435 runs in 16 matches (15 innings) at an average of 31.07 and an impressive strike rate of 155.91. He also collected a fine century en route, scoring a 60-ball 104 not out in a convincing nine-wicket win over the Mumbai Indians.

India captain Rohit Sharma finished a close second, amassing 417 runs in 14 matches. The former MI skipper may have lost his captaincy to Hardik Pandya, but found fine form, scoring at an average of 32.08 and a quickfire strike rate of 150.00. His highest was a brilliant 105 not out against the Chennai Super Kings at the Wankhede.

Third in the list of high-performing Mumbai Ranji stars at this IPL is CSK’s Shivam Dube, who amassed 396 runs in 14 matches at an average of 36.00 and with a strike rate of 162.30. His highest score of 66 not out came in the same match where Rohit scored his unbeaten century. Dube also took one wicket off the only over he bowled in the tournament.Rajasthan Royals opener Yashasvi Jaiswal with Mumbai Indians' Rohit Sharma during their IPL 2024 match at the Wankhede recently. Kolkata Knight Riders’s IPL-winning captain Shreyas Iyer is fourth with 351 runs from 14 matches at an average of 39.00, with a strike rate of 146.86.

MI big-hitter Suryakumar Yadav is fifth-best, aggregating 345 runs from 11 matches at an average of 34.50 and strike rate of 167.48. His highest score was a swashbuckling 51-ball 102 not out against the Sunrisers Hyderabad at Wankhede.

Delhi Capitals’ opener Prithvi Shaw is in sixth place with 198 runs from eight matches at a none-too-impressive average of 24.75 but with a fine strike rate of 163.64.

Current Mumbai captain Ajinkya Rahane is next on the list with 242 runs from 13 matches at 20.17 and a striker rate of 123.47. Young KKR batter Angkrish Raghuvanshi is next best with 163 runs from 10 matches at 23.29 and a striker rate of 155.24.  Next in the line-up, CSK’s Tushar Deshpande was the only Mumbai bowler who bowled decently to finish with 17 wickets in 13 matches with a best haul of 4-27 against SRH.
The remaining three Mumbai players in the fray—CSK’s and Shardul Thakur (five wickets in nine matches), MI’s Shams Mulani (went wicketless in two matches) and RR’s Tanush Kotian (24 runs in one match) didn’t do anything noteworthy in the tournament.
