Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav were not part of Virat Kohli’s side during the Indian team’s disappointing performance in the 2021 T20 World Cup held in UAE last November. But under new coach Rahul Dravid and skipper Rohit, both are very much in their plans for next T20 World Cup to be held in Australia later this year.

“Chahal has got back his rhythm as I saw in the ODIs, Kuldeep will need some time as he was injured [shoulder and knee injury] for close to five months. He played an international game after a while. Wrist spinners need time, but the kind of guy Kuldeep is, I am sure he will start looking to get his thing right. He has been already doing that in the nets. My fingers are crossed for Kuldeep and Chahal and hope they come good for us,” Rohit said during a virtual press conference ahead of today’s T20I against West Indies in Kolkata.

When asked about the team’s plan about Hardik Pandya, who scored just 69 runs in five T20I games during the 2021 World Cup and bowled only four overs in the UAE, Rohit said, “Hardik is an important player. He brings three skills into the team.

We have not had any discussion over him playing as a pure batsman. It’s important for us to have all players available. The doors are open for everyone.”
