Indian captain Mithali Raj was quite forthright in stating that the team had very little “game time” to be well prepared for an international engagement.
Almost no cricket for a year is not an ideal scenario for any team and that told on their performance in the first ODI here on Sunday. Little wonder they were outplayed by South Africa.


The Indian team would be desperate to recover quickly and strike back in the second ODI to be played today. Luckily, it is a five-game ODI series, thus it gives them enough scope to work their way back to winning ways by taking lessons from the men’s team, who lost the first games in both the Test series before recovering to win them.
