Defending champions Parsee Gymkhana, organisers MIG Cricket Club, Payyade Sports Club and Police Gymkhana entered the semi-finals of the Padmakar Talim Shield (T20) tournament on Sunday.

Parsee Gym outclassed DY Patil Sports Academy (DYPSA) by 30 runs in the first quarter-final at the Wankhede Stadium. Riding on Sachin Yadav’s 30-ball 52 not out (4x4, 2x6) and skipper Akarshit Gomel’s 41 (4x4, 2x6), Parsee Gym posted 187-4 in their 20 overs. In reply, DYPSA could manage only 157-9 thanks to some disciplined bowling by Parsee Gym leg-spinner Parag Khanapurkar (3-35) and pacer Tushar Deshpande (2-25).
Meanwhile, at the Cricket Club of India’s Brabourne Stadium, Payyade SC needed a Super Over to beat Karnatak Sporting Association (KSA). Chasing a target of 12 runs, Payyade’s Sarfaraz Khan smashed medium pacer Shivam Dube for a six and two fours to win the game with two balls to spare. Earlier, Sarfaraz’s 55 and his brother Musheer’s 41 saw Payyade post 199-4. KSA’s all-rounders Vinayak Bhoir (57 not out) and Ankeet Chavan (49) fought hard, but only managed to level the scores, having been bowled out for 199 in 19.4 overs.
In another quarter-final at Wankhede, MIG CC beat National Cricket Club by seven wickets. Pacers Nikhil Date (2-28), Irfan Umair (2-14) and off-spinner Ankush Jaiswal (2-16) restricted National CC to 118-9. MIG’s Pragnesh Kanpillewar (50 not out) and Swapnil Salvi (35, 3x4, 1x6) ensured an easy chase.
In another match at Brabourne, Mumbai Police Gymkhana beat Parkophene Cricketers by eight wickets. The cops chased down Parkophene’s 107-6 in 15.3 overs with opener Kaustubh Pawar remaining unbeaten on 57 (8x4, 1x6).
