“No point in looking back. We have to plan from now on so that Team India win the World Cup. We have good, potential cricketers in almost all positions. We should become world champions again,” stressed Banerjee

Former India swing bowler, Subroto Banerjee was elated to be picked in the five-man national selection committee announced by the BCCI on Saturday. He told Sunday mid-day: “I was overwhelmed when I learnt about my appointment as national selector. It’s a prestigious post; a lot of pressure as well. I am indeed honoured. After quitting cricket, I was busy coaching,” said Banerjee, who played one Test on India’s 1991-92 tour of Australia before being part of India World Cup team the same season. “Now, I have a different job. We have not met as a group, but in my first meeting I will mention that winning the World Cup should be a priority.
