On his way back after addressing his first press conference as an India player, Sarfaraz Khan was congratulated by England’s assistant coach, Paul Collingwood. “Well played,” Collingwood told him while shaking his hand and patting him on his shoulder for his 62.

Asked if England were surprised by Sarfaraz’s style of batting, which resembled England’s approach in recent times, Collingwood replied: “Yes, of course. He came out and batted really well. We kept attacking fields to him and he had the courage to go over the top on a few occasions. He sweeps really well and puts the bowlers under pressure. On debut, it takes a lot of courage to come out and play like that,” said Collingwood.
