The coronavirus pandemic has made quite an impact on the entire nation since last year. Many sports stars, foreign and domestic, have stepped forward in order to help the people of India in this time of crisis. India all-rounder Irfan Pathan and his brother Yusuf Pathan have been constantly providing help to many people in these unprecedented times.

Today, the 36-year-old former cricketer from Vadodara made an announcement on social media that his father's charitable trust will be providing oxygen concentrators to all those in Vadodara who are in need of it. Pathan wrote on Twitter, "Anyone who is in need of oxygen or with low SPO2 level across Vadodara, can contact our father's charitable trust on 1800 121 7479. We are providing oxygen concentrator on a returnable basis, free of cost!"

Earlier this month, Irfan Pathan shared on social media that their academy will offer free food to those people that are affected by the coronavirus in South Delhi. Irfan Pathan wrote on Twitter, "While the nation is in the midst of the second wave of Covid-19, it becomes our responsibility to come together and assist the people in need. Taking inspiration from the same, Cricket Academy of Pathans (CAP) is going to provide free meals to Covid-19 affected people in South Delhi."

Irfan Pathan was part of the commentary panel of the recently-suspended IPL 2021 edition.

After a meeting held earlier in May, the BCCI decided to unanimously and indefinitely suspend the IPL 2021 edition amid the Covid-19 cases that cropped up during the 14th edition of the cash-rich T20 league. Few players and staff from IPL franchises Kolkata Knight Riders, Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals tested positive for Covid-19 earlier this week, which prompted the board to arrive at this decision.

Irfan Pathan has played 29 Test matches and scored 1,105 runs along with taking 100 wickets. He has a top score of 102 and 7 fifties at an average of 31.89. His best bowling figures in Tests are 7/59. Pathan also played 120 ODIs for India and scored 1,544 runs along with taking 173 wickets. His best ODI bowling figures are 5/27. On January 4, 2020, Irfan Pathan announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. He played his last IPL game back in 2017.
