Opener Ira Jadhav scored a brilliant 61 off 37 deliveries with nine boundaries to help Shardashram Vidyamandir (English) beat St Columba by 73 runs in the semi-finals of the MSSA-organised U-16 Manoramabai Apte inter-school tournament for girls at Karnatak SA, Cross Maidan, on Tuesday.


Shardashram posted 123-3 in 15 overs after electing to bat first. Mugdha Ghodke’s 23 off 19 balls too contributed to the score. St Columba’s medium pacer Diksha Prasad returned figures of 2-26 in a three-over spell. St Columba were bowled out for a paltry 50 in 10.4 overs with left-arm spinner Madhura Dhadke bagging four wickets for five runs in 2.4 overs.

In the other semi-final, Parag English School beat St Joseph Convent by seven wickets in an afternoon game at the same venue as the first semi-final. St Joseph were restricted to 82-4 in 15 overs with Vedika Nikam scoring 19 off 20 balls. Parag English’s medium pacer claimed 3-14 before her team reached the victory target with seven wickets to spare; Laxmi Saroj smashing a 40-ball 40.

Shardashram (English) and Parag English will play the final on February 19 at the Brabourne Stadium.
