Most teams have been making a last-ditch effort to keep players of their choice in the lead up to the mega auction next year. After the eight teams finalise their retention plans, new franchises—Lucknow and Ahmedabad—will pick a maximum of three players between December 1 and 25 before the mega auction in January.
Here are some players who could stay on
Delhi Capitals: Skipper Rishabh Pant, Prithvi Shaw, Axar Patel and South African Anrich Nortje will be retained
Mumbai Indians: Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav and Kieron Pollard look set to be retained
CSK: Leader MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja and Ruturaj Gaekwad will be retained. It’s a tough pick in the overseas retention between Moeen Ali and Faf du Plessis
Punjab Kings: Skipper KL Rahul may go back into the auction while the uncapped Arshdeep Singh and Ravi Bishnoi could be retained
Kolkata Knight Riders: They are likely to retain Varun Chakaravarthy, Andre Russell, Venkatesh Iyer and Sunil Narine
Rajasthan Royals: Skipper Sanju Samson, Jos Buttler and the uncapped Yashasvi Jaiswal could stay
RCB: Virat Kohli is sure to stay as will Yuzvendra Chahal and Glenn Maxwell
Sunrisers Hyderabad: Kane Williamson and Rashid Khan look set to be retained
