Key Highlights

  2. Rahul and Jadeja played a vital role in India`s first innings during the first test
  3. Mark Wood, the lone English pacer went wicketless in both innings

In the IND vs ENG 2nd Test, Rohit Sharma will have a lot of responsibility with the lack of services of experienced players. England is leading the five-match test series against India with 1-0 after securing a win in the first game.

India's star batsman Virat Kohli opted out of the first two tests due to personal reasons. Madhya Pradesh's Rajat Patidar was named as a replacement player in his place but did not feature in the first test.

Later in the month, KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja were ruled out of the IND vs ENG 2nd Test due to injuries. The injury blows of these two veterans provided an opportunity to Sarfaraz Khan, Washington Sundar and Sourabh Kumar.

Rahul and Jadeja played a vital role in India's first innings during the first test. Rahul scored 86 and Jadeja's score was 87 runs.

Though, lead pacer Jasprit Bumrah will be the deputy of skipper Rohit, the inexperienced batting lineup can cause troubles for the host.

Under fire, Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer are yet to play some impactful knocks in the traditional format. In the first test match, Gill scored 23 and 0 in both the innings whereas Mumbai-born lad Shreyas registered 35 in the first innings and 13 in the second innings.

With England looking to repeat the 2012 history will bring out their best performances throughout the series. In the first test match, England's spinners did the work right for the side. Mark Wood, the lone English pacer went wicketless in both innings.

Shoaib Bashir who did not visit India for the first test due to visa delay has not joined the side and is expected to feature in the IND vs ENG 2nd Test.

If England's team management decides to play Bashir in place of Wood, then the chances of the Indian team facing obscurity are high.

In the first test match, the hosts struggled to bat against England's spinner. Will England enter the 2nd Test with Joe Root, Tom Hartely, Jack Leach, Rehan Ahmed and Shoaib Bashir as their bowling attack will be a point to watch out for?
