Afghans lord over the Dutch
The match between Afghanistan and the Netherlands was played in Lucknow at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium. The Dutch skipper Scott Edwards won the toss and elected to bat first.
The Netherlands lost the early wicket of their opening batsman Wesley Barresi for just one run. None of the Dutch batsmen were able to score big except Max O'Dowd and Sybrand Engelbrecht who scored 42 and 58 runs, respectively. The Netherlands was bowled out for just 179 runs by the Afghanistan bowlers.
Yet again, the Afghanistan batting lineup delivered the performances for the team. Rahmat Shah played an excellent knock of 52 runs but was later dismissed by Saqib Zulfiqar. Hashmatullah Shahidi and Azmatullah Omarzai scored 56 and 31 runs and guided Afghanistan to another win in the ICC World Cup 2023. Afghanistan won the match by seven wickets.
