Mumbai beat Baroda by 13 runs (D/L method) to register their first win in an Elite Group ‘B’ match of the Vijay Hazare Trophy here on Thursday.


Bowlers shine


Batting first, the defending champions bundled out Baroda for 210 in 49.1 overs. Spinners Tanush Kotian (3-44), Prashant Solanki (3-61) and Shams Mulani (2-40) were the pick of the bowlers for Mumbai, while Dhawal Kulkarni and Tushar Deshpande claimed one wicket each. In reply, Mumbai scored 100-3 in 23 overs before play was interrupted due to rain.


Another ton for Gaikwad

Ruturaj Gaikwad scored his second successive hundred in as many days to lead Maharashtra to an eight-wicket win over Chhattisgarh. The Maharashtra skipper on Wednesday left the job unfinished, getting out for 136 in their high-scoring chase v Madhya Pradesh, but this time, he paced his innings beautifully on the way to an unbeaten 154 and chased down 276 with three overs to spare.
