Former Indian opening batsman Gautam Gambhir on Tuesday as interviewed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India's Cricket Advisory Committee for the position of Team India's head coach.

The interview took place over a Zoom call with both Gambhir and Malhotra attending it virtually. "Yes, Gambhir appeared for the interview with the CAC. One round of discussions happened today. There is another round expected tomorrow," a BCCI source told PTI.

The specifics of his interaction with CAC chairman Ashok Malhotra and his colleagues Jatin Paranjpe and Sulakshana Naik were not immediately known. Both Paranjpe and Naik are based in Mumbai.
The discussion, it is believed, was focussed on the roadmap he has in mind for the next three years, which will feature three ICC tournaments across formats.
There is an Apex Council meeting on Tuesday evening and it is understood that secretary Jay Shah will apprise the members about the coach selection process before the final announcement is made.
The CAC is also interviewing a few interested candidates for the North Zone selector's position. Gautam Gambhir also helped Kolkata Knight Riders to lift the IPL 2024 as the team's mentor.
Currently, Rahul Dravid is in Team India's head coach position. The veteran will step down after the T20 World Cup 2024 in the Americas and the West Indies. The "Men in Blue" are now in Barbados for their Super 8 stage clashes. They will lock horns with Afghanistan on June 20.
Rohit Sharma and Co. are still unbeaten in the T20 World Cup 2024. Out of four group stage matches, they have won three games. One match against Canada was washed out due to a wet outfield.
