Former India skipper and BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has managed to get India wicketkeeper-batter Wriddhiman Saha to play for the western state again in the next domestic season after he parted ways with the team in 2022 due to a rift with then CAB joint-secretary Debabrata Das.

It can be recalled, Das issued a statement accusing Saha, scorer of 7,013 first-class runs in 136 matches, of giving excuses to skip Ranji Trophy matches. Saha, hurt by Das’s comments, sought an apology which never came. With no resolution on the issue, Saha asked for a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to leave the state team and represent Tripura instead.

He has been a Tripura player for two seasons, until Ganguly, 51, played the peacemaker’s role, asking the veteran to return to his home state. The former Bengal player and Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) president gave Saha a patient hearing and it seems to have done the trick.

Now, Saha, 39, has to obtain an NOC from Tripura Cricket Association to confirm his return.
