‘Ranji Trophy is priority’
“Ranji Trophy preparation is our priority. Once the selectors are appointed, they will announce the probables. Then, within the Covid-19 protocols, [coach] Amol will start working with those probables. We want to give Amol his entire pool of players as fast as possible. By mid-July we want everything to be sorted,” Paranjape told mid-day on Thursday.
Former Mumbai selector Guru Gupte also applied for the post, but his name was not among the shortlisted candidates. “I had applied for the selector’s post, but they didn’t call me for the interview, so I didn’t attend,” said Gupte.
Former Mumbai coach Vinayak Samant also appeared before the CIC but later communicated to them that he won’t be able to take up the selector’s job because of other commitments.
