There is nothing I can do, says injured Sehwag

Virender Sehwag, whose shoulder injury forced him out of the ICC World T20 yesterday, has revealed that he suffered the injury during last month's Indian Premier League in South Africa.

"The injury occurred during the IPL semi-final (against the Deccan Chargers). I hurt myself while diving to bring off a stop," Sehwag, who then captained the Delhi DareDevils, told Kolkata's The Telegraph newspaper.

Sehwag is the second reported casualty of the IPL. Zaheer Khan too is on the injured list with a shoulder injury although the left-arm paceman played in India's last match against Bangladesh.

The attacking batsman added: "I'm not sure what's to happen next... I'll be consulting a specialist in London, where I'll be heading to now (with wife and son)... There is nothing I can do."

Sehwag's brace-supported right shoulder may require surgery. He has been replaced by Dinesh Karthik, his Delhi Daredevils' teammate, who, apart from his efficient batting, can keep wickets too.

The newspaper reported that Karthik was preferred over Virat Kohli and Abhishek Nayar, who played for Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians respectively in the IPL. Yuvraj Singh could be named as the Indian team's vice-captain.
