"When I saw the news on TV, my heart sank. I was extremely shocked. I felt very sad," said Tendulkar on the sidelines of an exhibition by 10 artists titled 'Deconstructed Innings' — a tribute to his glittering cricketing life and career held at the National Gallery of Modern Art yesterday.

Praising the artwork on display, he said, "I am an art lover and collector too. It's not easy for an artist to create a masterstroke in limited time. It takes a lot of effort to create an art piece. One of the exhibits, where the artist has depicted the breaking of windowpanes, reminds me of my childhood. The whole exhibition is magical and fantastic."

The exhibition is conceptualised by Kiran Desai and co-curated with Veeranganakumari Solanki. It opens for public today and will run upto February 15.
