Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) president Ravi Savant has been appointed as Vice-President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), it is learnt.
Savant was awarded the Honorary Treasurer’s post in the wake of Ajay Shirke’s resignation during the spot fixing scandal. In a recent interview to MiD DAY, Savant said he was keen to retain the Treasurer’s post.

But on the eve of the BCCI’s Annual General Meeting in Chennai on Saturday, Savant was directed to file his nomination for the vice-president’s post. “Savant is happy with the Vice-President’s post.
It is a bigger one than Treasurer,” a Mumbai Cricket Association source said. Savant will also be chairman of the Board’s umpires committee.u00a0
