Suspended Mumbai cricketer Hiken Shah has written to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Anurag Thakur, requesting the Board to release his match fees for 2014-15 season due to a medical emergency in his family.

Shah’s match fees were withheld after the BCCI’s Disciplinary Committee banned the batsman for five years for an alleged corrupt approach to one of his Ranji teammates.

In a letter to the BCCI, Shah wrote: “My father has been hospitalised for chest pain. Doctor had advised to do angiography and after seeing the reports, the doctor has advised a bypass surgery immediately as his heart is only 15 per cent functional.”
