Super 10: Classic Indo-Pak cricket moments

India and Pakistan will face each other in yet another high-voltage clash at Eden Gardens, Kolkata on Saturday. As fans gear up for the mega clash, we rewind and look at some memorable moments in the rivalry over the years

When Prasad knocked out Sohail (and Pakistan): For Indian fans who grew up in the 90s, Venkatesh Prasad cleaning up Aamir Sohail during the 1996 World Cup quarter-finals was the ultimate moment when it came to Indo-Pak clashes. Relive it here.

Kanitkar’s shot to glory: Hrishikesh Kanitkar did not achieve much at the international level, but his boundary off Saqlain Mushtaq to win India the 1998 Silver Jubilee Independence Cup final ensured he remains etched in memory forever.

When Miandad broke a million hearts: So much has been said and written about the last-ball six by Javed Miandad off Chetan Sharma in 1986. Watch it here.

Chauhan does a Miandad: More than two decades after Miandad punctured India’s confidence, Indian fans had a sense of revenge when Rajesh Chauhan slapped Saqlain Mushtaq for a six in the last over, to win them a game at Karachi in 1997.

Akhtar sends Dravid, Tendulkar packing: At his peak, Shoaib Akhtar famously cleaned up Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar with unplayable yorkers, during the Eden Gardens Test in 1999.

Jumping Jack (of Pakistan): During the 1992 World Cup clash between the two teams, Indian wicket keeper Kiran More was constantly in Miandad’s ears. The eccentric Pakistani legend gave him a rather amusing response.

The Gambhir-Afridi fight: When India and Pakistan clash, things are bound to get heated up. And, neither Gautam Gambhir or Shahid Afridi are known for taking a backward step, as was seen at Kanpur in 2007 during a one-day clash.

The famous upper cut: Sachin Tendulkar played a splendid innings during the 2003 World Cup clash at Centurion. His now legendary upper cut off Shoaib Akhtar set the tone for a tough target, which India easily achieved.

When Sidhu scared the hell out of Sohail: Aamir Sohail was known for his needling ways, but he chose the wrong man in Navjot Sidhu, during a one-day game in 1996, and got the scare of his life.

The ball that made Joginder Sharma famous: As India look to recapture the World T20 crown, we end with the moment that made them the inaugural World T20 champs.
