Twitterati troll Australia cricket captain Steve Smith for getting fiancee Dani Willis' social media handle wrong

It seems the Australian Open heat isn't just affecting the players, but spectators too. How else does one get the name of your fiancée wrong on social media? Australia captain Steve Smith yesterday put out a tweet thanking the organisers of the year's first Grand Slam after he and fiancée Dani Willis enjoyed the encounter between Novak Djokovic and Hyeon Chung.

"Great night out at the @AustralianOpen with @dani_willis we both absolutely love our tennis! Thanks @CraigTiley for having us. What a belter of a match!," Smith wrote on Twitter. What the stylish Aussie batsman didn't realise though was that he had got his fiancee's Twitter handle wrong, which means he tagged another Dani Willis instead. His fiancee's actual Twitter handle is @DaniWillis91. Inevitably, Smith was trolled for his gaffe.

"Again, a brain fade moment by tagging the wrong person," wrote one social media user. It may be recalled that Smith had said he had a brain fade when he was questioned during the Test series in India last year for looking for a signal from the dressing room before asking for a DRS referral, which is against the rules. "Hahaha, how could one forget his wife," wrote another online user.
