After obliging them with selfies, Manjrekar was keen to test their IPL knowledge. He asked them the regular playing XI of Gujarat Lions and was mighty impressed with the reply of one fan — Titarth Patel — who correctly listed the regular playing XI. “I am impressed. It is good to know that you are not just here for show,” Manjrekar told the kids. The gesture left the kids thrilled and they immediately called their parents back home to describe their experience.
More Gujaratis in MI than in Gujarat Lions
IT was rather strange to see the Mumbai Indians line-up having more Gujaratis than their opponents Gujarat Lions during Saturday’s match. Mumbai Indians had three Gujarati components in their team — Parthiv Patel, Hardik Pandya and his brother Krunal, who made his IPL debut. Gujarat Lions on the other hand, had no player with Gujarati descent in the 15 selected on Saturday. Their lone Gujarati player, Ravindra Jadeja, was missing from Saturday’s line-up as he is set to get married in Rajkot today.
