President and PM condole Jagmohan Dalmiya's death

New Delhi: President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday condoled the death of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Jagmohan Dalmiya, who passed away in Kolkata yesterday.

"Heartfelt condolences on the passing away of Shri Jagmohan Dalmiya," the President tweeted as the passing away of the sports administrator plunged the cricketing world in grief.


"My thoughts are with the family of Shri Jagmohan Dalmiya in this hour of grief. May Shri Dalmiya's soul rest in peace," Prime Minister Narendra Modi also tweeted.


Reactions also started pouring in from Union ministers with HRD minister Smriti Irani condoling his death.

"My thoughts are with the family of Shri Jagmohan Dalmiya in this hour of grief. May Sri Dalmiya's soul rest in peace," she said.

Amit Shah, the President of BJP, tweeted: "My deepest condolences to the family of Shri Jagmohan Dalmiya on his demise ...a big loss not only for Indian but World cricket.

"Shri Dalmiya made an immense contribution to growth of cricket with his vision & pragmatic approach. May his soul rest in peace."
