Rafael Nadal will make his comeback to tennis after a 10-week lay off that saw him lose his the No. 1 ranking to Roger Federer.
He will travel to Canada today to seal his return at Montreal Masters 1000, which gets underway next week.
The world No. 2 admitted he made a mistake playing with discomfort in Madrid. "This was the best year of my life until problems appeared for chasing more, and not knowing the limits."
Nadal's uncle and coach Toni was also skeptical about his nephew's return.
"Rafa will play in Montreal. It is good news for us," Toni told Radio Marca.
"It's another thing to know what standard he will be at. I imagine he won't be in very good condition.
"He has been training but without really pushing it very much. To see what form he's in, we'll have to see how he copes in a proper match.
"The challenge is to get back into form and to be in good shape for the US Open."
