Mumbai all-rounder Ramesh Powar will play for Rajasthan in the upcoming Ranji Trophy season. The off-spinner signed a two-year contract with the Rajasthan Cricket Association on Saturday.
The 35-year-old said his former teammate Hrishikesh Kanitkar asked him to play for Rajasthan. “Hrishi and I have been good friends and have played together for departmental teams, Mumbai and West Zone teams for some years.

We have a good understanding and he offered me to play for Rajasthan,” Powar told PTI. “I was playing for Mumbai for 13-14 years and it was becoming a routine thing, so I shifted to Rajasthan.
It is a different feeling while playing for champion teams like Mumbai. We always stepped in to win. Same would be here. Rajasthan too have been Ranji champions for two consecutive years (in 2011 and 2012) which is no mean feat,” he added.
