Intellectuals of Kolkata yesterday welcomed the International Cricket Council's decision to allow the Eden Gardens to host three World Cup matches, but expressed disappointment over not getting an India match.
"I feel bad that Eden will not host a single India match. But at the same time, it is also good to hear that Eden Gardens will host some World Cup matches," said Shirshendu Mukhopadhaya, a renowned writer.
"It is sad, but I think the ICC could have reconsidered it," said Ranjit Mullick, an eminent Bengali actor.
