Glenn Maxwell
Not everyone comes close to scoring three consecutive tons in a T20 format and miss out on all three occasions! Maxwell has managed to pull of this rare feat. Not a regular in the starting eleven when at MI, he has made full use of the chance given to him by his current franchise. With scores of 89, 95 and 89 in the first three games, he leads the Orange Cap standings by some distance and has been instrumental in KXIP winning all five on a trot in the UAE. Also an excellent fielder and a capable bowler, he would surely like to add to the miseries of his former team.
Kieron Pollard
Pollard’s case has been exactly the opposite of Maxwell. He hardly got a chance to bat in the first three games, which was evident from the fact that he got to play only 26 balls by the end of them. However, he has shown glimpses of returning to form with a confident 33 against the Daredevils and a breathtaking 78 against the Sunrisers. Sending Pollard up the order would give him more balls to face. He can then play himself in and then explode towards the end of the innings. The key reason for the success of Maxwell is of him coming in at No.3 to bat, unlike Pollard who is wasted at No.5 or 6.
It would be exciting to see who among the two big hitters has the last laugh today!
