Lara: Watch this kid Barath!

Batting great Brian Lara has singled out fellow Trinidadianu00a0 Adrian Barath as the one to watch in West Indies cricket. Barath (19) is part of Trinidad & Tobago's Champions League squad. Hisu00a0 29 as opener against Cape Cobras will ensure he will be seen in action in the final today.

"He (Barath) has great technique and he is a potentially brilliant player for the future.u00a0 From when I last saw him seven or eight months ago, obviously he has had to change his game to make an impression on the world because of the way cricket is going with Twenty20, but he is a talent," Lara was quoted as saying in The Age newspaper in Australia.

The former West Indies captain is also impressed by Kieron Pollard's show in the Champions League but liked what he saw of Barath's technique and temperament.

"There are a few things he will have to understand about the game. The Twenty20 game is 20, 30 balls and you can become a superstar," Lara said, referring to Pollard.

"If he wants to play Test cricket, there is some sort of technical side of the game he would need to apply and improve upon. Credit must be given to the way he strikes the ball and the timing, but there is a big difference between Twenty20 and Tests," he added.
