India wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel believes that Wankhede track is still very good for batting. And given the way the Englishmen bowled in the second half of Day Two yesterday, this English attack clearly doesn’t match up to the Indians in any way and the gulf is getting wider.
Pin-pointing the difference, Parthiv said: “We definitely spin the ball more than what they try to do. That’s what I felt in the last game at Mohali too.
“You could see the difference in the way our bowlers bowled there, where there was no turn. They (England) actually got exposed as there was no help from the wicket. The same thing will happen here.
“We have bowlers who can vary the pace brilliantly and that’s what R Ashwin, Jaddu (Ravindra Jadeja) and Jayant (Yadav) have been doing. You can see that we have deceived a lot of their players in the air rather than just due to help from the wicket. More than the surface, the quality of our bowlers are far better and that is the reason why we have succeeded in keeping them quiet. On pitches with red soil, it is very difficult to contain the scoring rate.
“But we did that in the second session yesterday and that’s the reason why we got wickets in the third session. There is a definite difference in quality for sure,” said Ahmedabad-based Parthiv.
