After retiring from the game following Pakistan’s win in the 1992 World Cup, Imran Khan went on to build the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre in Lahore. It can be recalled that he appealed to his World Cup-winning teammates and the Pakistani fans to donate money to see his dream project come true.

Twenty three years later, the former Pakistan captain turned politician is all set to open a new hospital in Peshawar, according to Dr Faisal Sultan, the CEO at the hospital.
“The hospital building is being under construction and will hopefully be ready by the year-end. Imran’s second hospital will be better equipped,” Dr Sultan said from Lahore.
Imran’s mother Shaukat Khanum died of cancer in 1985 due to lack of treatment and facilities in his country.
