The chairman of selectors, who surprised everyone by applying for the head coach's post, revealed that he congratulated India's new cricket head coach Kumble two days ago.
"I am very happy for Anil. I congratulated him in advance because he was a frontrunner. We had a fabulous committee to choose the new coach and I'm glad we have selected him.
Let's not get into why 'A', 'B' or 'C' didn't get picked. Now that the coach is selected, let us back him to the hilt," said
'Anil has seen it all'
The former India batsman coached an Indian team in 1996, which had Kumble as a senior player. "Anil has seen it all — ups and down — which is so very important in coaching a team," said Patil, who coached senior and junior Indian teams apart from Kenya and Oman.
