Greenlawns School, Breach Candy hammered Gopi Birla, Walkeshwar 7-0 to book themselves a berth in the knock-out round of Mumbai Schools Sports Association's Boys U-16 Division IV inter-school football tournament at Azad Maidan yesterday.

A collective effort from Greenlawns saw Rohaan Joshi (2), Pranit Parekh, Suraj Kapur, Aman Jain, Mihir Shah and custodian Yash Vardhan score as Gopi Birla went from bad to worse in the field.

Midfielder Joshi said his side had been under pressure from New Activity School, Grant Road for the top spot in the group after the two played out a 2-2 draw earlier in the tournament.

"We were under pressure until we scored our first goal. Once we got that, things got better for us and we were up and running," he said.

Fourteen-year-old Joshi was disappointed with his side's exit in the quarter-finals last season but this year he vowed to help his school get promoted to Division III.

"We have a great team and we can reach the final if we play to our ability. It is more of a collective effort rather than individual brilliance. A performance like this is very motivating," added the lanky Joshi.
