Mohit Tanwar struck century to help Rizvi Springfield (Bandra) enter the Giles Shield semi-finals. The Bandra team advanced by virtue of their first innings lead against IES VN Sule Guruji (Dadar) in a Round Three match at Police Gymkhana yesterday. Resuming the day on 213-8, the Dadar outfit added 10 runs before getting bowled out for 223.
Aman Khan top scored for Sule Guruji with 59. For Rizvi, Medium pacer Arun Gupta claimed three for 41 while off-spinner Abhinav Singh and left-arm spinner Nishit Balla picked two wickets each. In reply, Rizvi lost an early wicket as skipper Abhinav Singh got out with only six runs on the board. Later, Awais Khan (84) and Mohit Tanwar (100) got their team back on track.
Meanwhile in another match, Swami Vivekanand International School (Borivli) won on first innings lead against Don Bosco (Matunga) at Islam Gymkhana, After smashing a brilliant 173, SVIS skipper Ayush Jethwa picked up four for 57 with his off-spin. Following on, Don Bosco finished with 147 for three.
