Following a 0-4 drubbing in the Tests, the Indians must be looking forward to the ODIs to put a check on growing criticism of their performance in the longer version. But their woes were compounded as opener Gautam Gambhir's fitness till remains a mystery.

According to well-informed sources, he may have recovered from the shoulder injury but his vision is still blurred following the concussions he suffered while taking a catch in the fourth and final Test against England at the Oval last week. That he didn't turn out in the warm-up match against Sussex lent more truth to the issue.
Time's running out
But time is running out for the Delhi batsman and barring a miracle, he is almost certain to miss the last warm-up tie against Leicestershire on August 29 before the one-off Twenty20 fixture on August 31. It is learnt that the senior pro is having immense trouble in fixing his sight on anything for an extendedu00a0 period.
During his 45-minute indoor training with bowling coach Eric Simmons, Gambhir was finding it difficult to gauge the line and length of the throw downs. Apparently, the southpaw is suffering from nausea whenever he is trying to exert himself. Support staff members are working overtime with Gambhir to get him fit.
